The SoCal Gas, whose negligence towards safety measures at the gas company resulted in a manmade health hazard ,is finally settled for $119.5M. This is one of the largest reported gas leak of the decade. People of the Porter Ranch suburb were evacuated as this incident was a sure state of emergency. The court have also demanded a close monitoring of the facility for the next 8 years. SoCal Gas was also asked to fully fund a long term health study to assess health impacts of the leak and other environmental programs in and around Los Angeles.
